A listening series for the music makers and sound lovers of Amsterdam. Kino for your Ears takes place in the Ventilator Cinema on the second floor of the OT301. The listening sessions are meant to be a space where both audience and performers can be open to dialogue and experimentation. We are back with our next round of lovely artistsss.... This time round, we will have three acts:
gobi_10k
gobi_10k (Alec Gordon) blends Scotland’s rural landscapes with post-industrial noise, working across performance, sound installation, and custom instrument design. They use Max/MSP, generative deep learning, and DIY electronics to explore spectrum saturation via web-scraped data and adversarial networks. Emerging from Glasgow’s underground harsh noise scene with the ensemble SSDHD, they relocated to The Hague to study at the Institute of Sonology, where they now live and work.
Their process harvests digital artifacts through algorithms, transforming them via recursive neural processing into evolving sonic worlds that disrupt linear time. Performances are intense and unrepeatable, fusing noise aesthetics with real-time machine learning, processed feedback, and data-driven synthesis into dense textural soundscapes.
Recent appearances include Bludný kámen’s Sonic Lab (Opava), Studio LOOS’s intersect.SERIES, Central Station Ljubljana with Kikiriki, DobiaLab (Italy) with Aleksander Koruga, Cashmere Radio Berlin with Max Frimout, and 8sixA Amsterdam with Farzané Nouri. Featured on Concertzender’s Electronic Frequencies and XOR Space’s Loophole VR at Timcheh Festival 2023 (with Veronika Batzdorfer); regular at Bučení Festival (2022 w/ Rashad Becker). Active across Czechia, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Turkey, Latvia, and Scotland, redefining computational sound through live neural networks and improvisational electronics.

Si Paton
Si Paton performs improvised solo prepared bass guitar. His work draws from the traditions of free jazz, harsh noise, metal, hardcore punk, 20th century classical, and Fluxus performance practices, which are all incorporated during his shows. Armed with multiple distortion pedals, screwdrivers, drumsticks, pencils, and anything that the previous band left onstage, he has crafted compelling performances that consist of virtuosic free jazz one minute, dense walls of harsh noise the next, before utilising a stage presence that contains the chaotic energy that Andy Kaufman pioneered. Whilst never quite completely fitting neatly onto any lineup he is a part of, he has nevertheless impressed audiences with his musical risk taking, off-beat showmanship, and sheer intensity. Whilst active in the improvised music community, performing internationally with renowned figures, he has developed his solo performances with the precision of a well-crafted composition. His work, both in the worlds of music academia and the DIY community have earned him many admirers over the years.
Si Paton is a composer, improviser, bassist, academic, event curator, noisemaker, smart mouth and general antagonist. He has completed his PhD at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and previously studied electric bass and jazz composition at University of West London. As an improviser, he has played with many well known figures, and was previously the bassist and bandleader in the math-jazz group Selectric. His solo performances, and the trans-Atlantic no wave duo Phame are amongst his most prominent endeavours currently. He was previously the founder and curator of Thinking/Not Thinking Fest, and currently runs the concert series Don't Mind Control.
