KABOOM CULT PRESENTS THE TIME MASTERS (1982) INCL. INTRODUCTION
In our collaboration with Kaboom Animation Festival, we present rarely-seen animation classics on the big screen, from recently restored cult titles to seldom-screened festival hits. Animation belongs on the big screen and what better place to present it than at LAB111, where Kaboom has its offices? So grab a drink and come watch great animation with us!René Laloux’s Les Maîtres du temps turns a rescue mission across the cosmos into one of French animation’s strangest and most beautiful science-fiction adventures. When young Piel is left alone on the deadly planet Perdide, a group of travellers races across space to reach him before it is too late. Designed in collaboration with legendary artist Moebius, the film unfolds through surreal landscapes, eccentric creatures and ideas about distance, memory and the slippery nature of time. Dreamlike yet emotionally direct, The Time Masters is a cult classic whose imaginative universe still feels entirely its own.
This screening is presented in collaboration with Alliance Française.
The film will be introduced by Maarten van Gageldonk (Kaboom Animation Festival).
