Kaboom Cult presents Bob Spit: We Do Not Like People (2021) incl. introduction
KABOOM CULT: BOB SPIT: WE DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE (2021) INCL. INTRODUCTION
In our collaboration with Kaboom Animation Festival, we present rarely-seen animation classics on the big screen, from recently restored cult titles to seldom-screened festival hits. Animation belongs on the big screen and what better place to present it than at LAB111, where Kaboom has its offices? So grab a drink and come watch great animation with us!No film embraces the Kaboom spirit quite like Bob Spit – We Do Not Like People, an ultra-meta and gleefully vulgar stop-motion film by Cesar Cabral. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the angry punk Bob Spit tries to escape grotesque figures, only for it to be revealed that this world exists inside the mind of his creator: Brazilian cartoonist Angeli, who is struggling with a creative crisis. Blending documentary, comedy, and road movie, the film is inspired by the life and work of Angeli, whose character Bob Spit became more famous than the artist himself. Winner of the Contrechamp Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, this hallucinatory film is a wild tribute to punk, counterculture, and the battle between creator and creation.
