Jazzy Jewels & Classical Pearls

Marcel Worms is a classically trained pianist who has often explored the territory between classical music and jazz. Never before, however, has he presented himself on record as a jazz pianist. To celebrate his 75th birthday this month, he is finally fulfilling a long-held wish: to make an album featuring improvisations on jazz standards and themes by Bach.

The album also gives him the opportunity to include a number of short classical pieces that never found a place on any of his previous recordings. These pieces share the freedom, freshness and spontaneity that are so characteristic of jazz.

In this concert, which also marks the launch of the new album, he will perform a generous selection from its repertoire.
