Jazz on Wednesday: Laura Dooge

Jazz on Wednesday: Laura Dooge

Laura Dooge sings the timeless songs from the Great American Songbook, translating the analogue romance of the past to the here and now. You might just forget these songs were written in the 1930's: we still have "a crush on you" and sometimes smoke a little too much "at the end of a love affair". The incredible band and exciting guest soloists bring back to life the jazz clubs where Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan enchanted the audience with their virtuosity and story-telling. A joyous and light-hearted show that will have you leave on cloud nine.

Laura's passion lies with the Great American Songbook, bringing the timeless songs of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Duke Ellington to the public. As guest soloist with The Fried Seven, with whom she released the album “Late To The Party” in 2024, she brings the repertoire of the 1920's back to life.

In 2019 Laura graduated cum laude from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2022 she was granted a Special Appreciation Award by the jury of the Laren Jazz Award. Over the years, Laura has sung in the BIMHUIS, het Concertgebouw and the Grachtenfestival.
