Interview Training by Andrea Voets II

[This training is in English]
Practice the art of interviewing in a series of hands-on group sessions led by musical journalist Andrea Voets.
In short 5 to 15-minute interviews, we’ll explore what it truly means to ask meaningful questions—and to listen with presence.
Since 2018, Andrea Voets has been conducting interviews as part of her work in musical journalism. Through experience, she’s learned what helps (and what hinders) when inviting someone to speak openly. This training shares those insights through practice.
Over the course of one, two, or three evenings, we will practice different scenarios together:
• How do you interview someone in just 3 or 5 minutes?
• How do you create a narrative arc in a 10-15 minute conversation?
• What makes a question come from genuine curiosity—and what feels forced?
• How do you honor silence and the meaning between words?
• Reflect on how questions made the interviewees actually feel.
• Rewind and retake: what happens when you open a different door with your questions?
• How do you manage your own emotions—what leaks through, and what shouldn’t?
• Where does your attention go during the conversation?
• How do we avoid interviews turning into therapy or oversharing—especially around trauma?
• What is the influence of live improvised music on the interview-setting?
These skills are useful in many contexts: hosting concerts, enriching your artistic practice, deepening social interactions, or enhancing your professional life.
The course is free of charge. You are welcome to attend one, two or three sessions. (If joining multiple nights, please sign up separately for each).
