In-Process Screening & Talk: Azziza - In a Cherished Land
From its ambiguous beginnings in 2020 as a master’s thesis that considered agrarian loss, the project follows the life of Khalaf’s 94 years old great-aunt Azziza, and her intimate relationship with their family land passed down for generations, now emptied of most of its inhabitants. As an intergenerational exchange, the film is composed from 5 years of observational footage guided by the passage of agrarian time. It offers an intimate window into Palestinian everyday life and into a relationship with land and surroundings during the ongoing threat of Palestinian existence.
The screening is followed by a Q&A and light food, as well as a showcase of installation work that deepens the themes of the film.
