Imarhan
Tuareg band playing desert blues
Imarhan is an Algerian Tuareg band that, since 2016, has been introducing a wider audience to Assouf, often referred to as desert blues. The quintet is led by Sadam Tahar Khaldi.
In 2026, the band returned with a fourth album, recorded in their own studio, Aboogie, located in Tamanrassat, the capital of the Tuareg region. The record is deeply rooted in the local scene, featuring gritty guitar riffs, poetic lyrics, and African choral arrangements. The sound is raw, tight, without detours. No storytelling. Just a group that digs its furrow, without trying to explain.
