Cellist Mudrė Buckutė comes together with her cello quartet, a guitarist and a singer to present the musical treasures of her heritage - Lithuania. You will hear 3 generations of Lithuanian music, grand 16th century polyphonic folk music named “Sutartinės”, 19th century classical music and pop music from various time periods. Works of Lithuanian composers, famous artists and villagers. Having a home key is important, heritage is the key for many and music is the key for all. You are invited to join this Sunday midday full of music that has warmed Lithuanian hearts for centuries.
The Start in Splendor Prize is part of the National Cello Competition, and is awarded on behalf of the National Cello Competition, the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and Splendor Amsterdam. Eligible are promising young cellists who, in addition to an exceptional mastery of their instrument, demonstrate exceptional programming talent. The artistically strongest and most creative programme idea is rewarded with the Start in Splendor Prize: the winner gets the opportunity and the budget to realise and produce his or her unique concert programme in Splendor. Previous winners were o.a. Lidy Blijdorp (2016) and Emma Warmelink (2022).
