Real men talk!

What does it mean to be a man? What expectations are placed on us, what challenges do we face, and how do we interact with one another?

Over the past few months, during the Summer School and discussions in the streets of Amsterdam, we’ve been talking to professionals and role models, as well as boys and men, about masculinity, relationships, expectations and behaviour. On 25 November, these stories, experiences and insights will come together at the closing event of Het Mannengesprek Amsterdam.

It’s set to be a surprising, interactive evening where you won’t just be listening, but will also have the chance to get involved yourself. With personal stories, special encounters and humour. We’ll look back at what the conversations have achieved, share the key insights and look ahead. How do we keep the conversation moving forward? And how can we take it further ourselves?

The event takes place at the start of Orange the World, the global campaign against violence against women and girls. Engaging men and boys in the prevention of violence is central to this. After all, change also begins with the conversations we have with one another, the norms we challenge and the space we create for different ideas about masculinity.

Whether you’re already involved with Het Mannengesprek or joining us for the first time, whether you’re a man or not: everyone is welcome on 25 November!
