Her Voice
Her Voice is a triple bill of some of the most powerful voices in the recorder world today, with ground-breaking programmes of early and contemporary music.
Set 1 // Songs of Wind & Wing – Susanne Frölich
Berlin-based recorder legend Susanne Frölich joins us for a special set! A concert devoted to the Wonders of Nature: The works of Markus Zahnhausen, Hollis Taylor, Ulrich
Schultheiß and Jakob van Eyck illuminate the richness of natural sound worlds across time and style. Zahnhausen creates meditative, colour-infused soundscapes. An evening of wonder that invites us to listen anew – delicately, unexpectedly, and in deep
connection with the world around us.
Set 2 // Her Voice
Block4 Recorder Quartet presents Her Voice, early music by female composers. From the medieval to the late baroque, we meet women such as Maddalena Casulana, Vittoria Aleotti, Isabella Leonarda, and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. Finished off with an explosive contemporary work by the incredible Tanya Tagaq!
Set 3 // Beneath a Pale Moon
Block4 Recorder Quartet continues with a performance of their 2025 album Beneath a Pale Moon, released by TRPTK. Evocative storytelling from the wandering melodies of the 14th century, through Renaissance motets and dances, to contemporary works by Aleksandra Vrebalov and Wotjek Blecharz.
