Heaving Room

Heaving Room

Heaving Room, initiated by Rustan Söderling, is a group exhibition exploring improvized forms of connection and attachment in a society where shared structures begin to unravel, featuring works by Jame T. Findlay, Michelle Chang Qin, Rosa Klerkx, Bin Koh, John Smith, Rustan Söderling, Dan Walwin, and Andoni Zamora.

Through time-based works, provisional environments and DIY logistics, the exhibition follows makeshift systems to find coherence and connection amid uncertainty: idiosyncratic cataloging, personal rituals, accidental communities, coping mechanisms and other ways to brace uncertainty. The exhibition space will become a temporary holding structure, a waiting room where these different beliefs and behaviours of uneasy alignment briefly mingle.

W139 is structurally supported by Amsterdam Fund for the Arts and Mondriaan Fund. This exhibition is supported by het Cultuurfonds and Exchanges programme by the Prince Claus Fund, with the support of the Amsterdam City Council.
