Together with Kaboom Animation Festival we bring the best anime to the big screen, with on this evening two recent documentaries about Hayao Miyazaki and a 4K reissue from his 1997 masterpiece Princess Mononoke!
Hayao Miyazaki may be one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the field of animation, but even living legends sometimes struggle with inspiration. And so, events from Miyazaki's own life once again influence the story of what is said to be his last film, The Boy and the Heron. "Hayao Miyazaki and the Heron" offers an intimate look at the years-long creative process behind the Oscar-winning film. A moving documentary about creativity, obsession, grief, and a creator whose drive to create keeps him going despite setbacks in the twilight of his life.
