Girls of The Internet
Girls of the Internet create soulful house using live instruments. Producer Tom Kerridge brings together musicians and vocalists with whom he writes tracks that hold their own even outside the club. His inspiration comes, amongst others, from Roy Ayers, whose work with the Eighties Ladies gave him the idea for the collective.
On the album ‘When I Lost, I Found Myself’, you can hear this approach reflected in collaborations with artists including Sophie Faith, Oscar Jerome and shiv. Their vocals are given plenty of space amidst the deep bass and house rhythms. Kerridge draws on the early days of house music, when people who felt left out found each other on the dance floor. Through a collective that brings together diverse gender expressions and sexualities, he is putting this into practice himself. Live, the music is performed by a full band.
