De Gezonde Stad is giving away thousands of free trees to the people of Amsterdam! Whether you have a garden, balcony, or rooftop terrace, there’s always space for these silent city heroes. Sign up now and help plant the urban forest of the future!
Some of these trees already shone during the Festival op de Ring on June 21, when a stretch of highway was transformed into a Birthday Forest and became a cool oasis on that scorching hot day. This forest carried a clear message: Trees are essential in the city. They provide cooling, clean the air, offer a home to birds and insects, and make people happier.
Now, De Gezonde Stad wants these trees to find a permanent home with the people of Amsterdam. Sign up and come by on November 8 at Artis, Stadsboerderij Osdorp, or De Ceuvel to pick up your tree!
No worries: the trees are still small, so you can easily take them home by bike.

How it works
De Gezonde Stad is giving away a total of 7,500 trees to the city and we need your help to find them a good spot. Look for a suitable private space, such as your garden or allotment, a schoolyard, or first in a pot on your balcony.
Choose your tree, tell us the location where you will plant it, and pick it up on November 2 at De Ceuvel!
No worries: the tree is still small enough to easily take with you by bike, public transport, or on foot.

Coming by car?
There is no parking on Korte Papaverweg, and to prevent congestion, please do not enter this dead-end street by car.
