From 5G to 6G: What's in it for us?

Technology companies are already working on the development of 6G, where the ‘G’ stands for generation. 6G is the next generation telecom network after 5G. 6G is not available yet, so how 6G will differ from 5G is still open. The industry seems to steer the direction of 6G towards making more and faster data traffic possible, but is that really what society needs? In the development of these networks, there is a lack of public debate about what we want from 6G. What values do you consider important?
During the workshop From 5G to 6G: What's in it for us? with 6G4society, Waag Futurelab, civil servants and 6G developers, join the discussion about the development of 6G. What do you consider important? What do you need to join the discussion about the development of 6G? And how do we start a public debate about the development of 6G?

Over 6G4society
In the 6G4Society project, various European organisations, including telecom companies, technical universities and knowledge institutions, are working on integrating social, ecological and economic values into 6G, so that the design, development and introduction of 6G contribute to a sustainable future.
Over Waag’s onderzoek naar 5G
In the project Imagining Public Connectivity, Waag Futurelab, in collaboration with designer Aina Seerden, gave new meaning to this conversation. By creating a shared knowledge base about 5G between citizens and governments, we explored what connectivity based on public and sustainable values could be. Together, we built up knowledge about the 5G network and worked on new visions of connectivity based on public and sustainable values.
