Friday jazz bar invites: Tristan Guillaume Quintet

Blending the pulse of Brittany with the freedom of modern jazz, Tristan Guillaume crafts music where tradition meets imagination. His upcoming album Folk Stuff will be released on the Paris based label Resolution Records in early 2026, following the release of the singles Hent Daou and Dragon Dance. Following his Breton-inspired debut album : An Tarv (2023), Folk Stuff expands his signature sound by inviting the Isle string quartet to his band, forming a 9 piece ensemble.

Born in Quimper and raised in Hanoi, the Paris-based drummer and composer bridges Celtic melodies, contemporary jazz, and cinematic textures. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, he became the first drummer in over forty years to receive a perfect score in the jazz department, earning the Fock Medal for best final presentation. His career has allowed him to travel the world, playing in places like Seoul, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Belgrade, The Canary Islands, Los Angeles, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin and many more.

Currently based in Paris, Tristan performs his original music and continues to explore the intersections of folk, jazz, and contemporary composition.
