Foraging Expedition // Summer

Foraging and cooking together in the rich late season of the wild city. What can be found in nature during these months? What is currently growing and blooming? Join us in exploring the green spaces of the city, searching for hidden food. It’s always a surprise what we’ll find.
This expedition we explore the wondrous nature of the Noorder IJplas. A wild roaming area in North Amsterdam with a wealth of plants that bear fruit in this late summer season. You’ll learn how to recognize these edible plants, which ones are safe to eat, and how to harvest them without harming nature.
At the end of the morning, we’ll get culinary with what we’ve found, cooking over an open fire at the IJplas.
That last part — the cooking — is the cherry on top! Cooking together not only gives you a real reason to pick during the walk, it also lowers the threshold to actually prepare something with wild greens. And it’s often special to taste the dishes and discover how ‘rich’ they are. Note: we’ll create a tasting session (not a full meal per person). We work with the season & the moment, so each foraging experience is different...
