Wild picking ánd cooking together -from early spring to the heart of winter. What can be found in nature these months? What is growing and blooming right now? Join us in the greenery of the city in search of hidden food. It’s a surprise every time what can be found.

During the expedition, you will learn how to recognise edible plants, which ones are edible and whether (and how) it is responsible to pick them.
Back at the Ceuvel or at the Noorder IJplas, we will do some culinary work with what we have found, often cooking on a fire.

The latter, the cooking, is in my opinion indispensable for learning to pick wild plants: by cooking together, first of all you really have a reason to all pick something during the walk. In addition, you immediately step over the threshold of actually cooking something with wild vegetables AND it is often special to taste the dishes and discover how ‘rich’ they often are. Note: we make a tasting (so not a complete meal p.p.)

We work from the season & the moment, and so every game picking is different....

Sunday 13 April – plenty of spring picking, with the first flowers
Sunday 25 May – tea & lemonade special
Sunday 22 June – summer picking
Sunday 6 July – summer picking, edible flowers special

Anke Wijnja connects people with themselves and with nature with her company The Nature Connection. She holds offices at the Ceuvel, where she is, among other things, the manager of the Purifying Park. Anke has enormous knowledge of nature and everything that grows and blooms, and conveys this with great enthusiasm. Besides the Wildpluke expeditions, she is a nature coach and teaches outdoor mindfulness.
