FOOD PHREAKS!: Biodiversity of the Kitchen is an exhibition about the ways that taste, place, technology and food shape our planet and our lives.
The exhibition features 15 years of recipes, menus, performances and food carts created by Genomic Gastronomy including pieces such as Smog Tasting, Glowing Sushi and New National Dish. Hosted by Mediamatic (with a corresponding artist talk on November 12) this work installation assembles print and electronic media created since 2010 in Europe, Asia and North America in collaboration with farmers, chefs, hackers and scientists. From LOCI Food Lab to the Planetary Sculpture Supper Club, the exhibition traces a journey across the planet via an insatiable curiosity about the organisms, environments and biotechnologies that shape our human food systems.

Genomic Gatronomy
Genomic Gastronomy is an artist-led think tank launched in 2010 by Cathrine Kramer and Zack Denfeld that examines the biotechnologies and biodiversity of human food systems. Their mission is to: map food controversies, prototype alternative culinary futures and imagine a more just, biodiverse & beautiful food system.
They present their research on the organisms and environments manipulated by human food cultures in the form of public lectures, research publications, meals, workshops and exhibitions and have collaborated with scientists, chefs, hackers and farmers in Europe, Asia, and North America.
