Florian Zenker & Santiago Cimadevilla
Electric guitar and bandoneon are not an obvious pairing. In this new duo, guitarist and composer Florian Zenker and bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla bring the two instruments together in a sound world that can be intimate and spacious one moment, rhythmically intricate and explosive the next.
The programme centres around Florian’s original compositions. His electric guitar, transformed through an extensive palette of effects, moves between clear melodic lines, atmospheric textures and improvisation, while the bandoneon adds its unmistakable combination of breath, rhythm and raw acoustic sound. Together, the two musicians explore the space between composition and spontaneity, drawing freely on jazz, Latin American music, cinematic soundscapes and other influences without settling into a single genre.
Florian studied jazz guitar in The Hague and has performed internationally with numerous ensembles, alongside his work as a composer for film, radio and television. Over many years he has developed a highly individual approach to electric guitar and electronic effects. Santiago, born in Buenos Aires and based in the Netherlands, has built his career around the bandoneon in tango, contemporary music, chamber music and orchestral projects.
