Film Funk (2026)
In addition to the open deck session and exhibition, the film Funk (2026) will be screened on ADE Wednesday. Directed by Aly Muritiba, the film follows Sabrina, a young funk artist from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, as she navigates the competitive baile funk scene. Set against a backdrop of heavy beats, bold performances, and the energy of the dance floor, the film explores themes of ambition, class, and the tension between commercial success and staying true to your roots.
The screening will be followed by a post-film discussion with a guest speaker (Crazy Jeff), fitting seamlessly within Encosta and ONDA Collective’s ADE programme. Like the rest of Studio/K’s ADE programme, Funk highlights baile funk not only as a music genre but as a cultural force that brings together community, creativity, and self-expression, connecting Brazil’s underground scene with contemporary club culture.
