FCA Sunday Feminist Discussion - Post-holiday edition: Navigating expectations, emotional labour and family dynamics in the jolly season
We want to kick off 2026 with a special post-holiday edition of our Sunday discussions! While the holiday period can be a time to rest, reflect, and spend time with our loved ones, it can also bring stress as we navigate expectations, complex relationships, and family dynamics. The holiday season is not always a joyful time for everyone; it's the season of time-consuming, unpaid labor! From physical to emotional labor, women stand at the front line during the holidays. We’ve also seen social media trends about “supporting eldest daughters during the holiday season”. How can we rethink the holidays outside the nuclear family by spending time with our chosen family and friends? Let’s not forget those who keep working and don’t have the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones. This Sunday's discussion is meant to be a place to vent and share experiences of how to navigate the holidays. What we find challenging and the answers we might have used to address it are different. Let's exchange and learn from each other! There will be vegan snacks and drinks!! 💜💜 If you would like to join the discussion, please sign up here and bring your sweater! Please note: Due to road work in front of the building, wheelchair access to Nieuwland is currently limited. We apologise for the inconvenience!
