Fabien Vuattoux’s CaptainHum
Captain Hum is an Amsterdam-based trio founded by French guitarist Fabien Vuattoux. Following a fruitful collaboration with Galician drummer Eloi Pascual, the idea emerged to create a band that brings together their shared affinity for melody, groove, and interplay. With the addition of Catalan bassist Aniol Torrents — with whom both had already collaborated in various settings — the trio took its final shape.
Blending rock and jazz, the three musicians develop a distinctive collective sound in which the form of each composition serves as a framework for improvisation. Their expansive interpretation of the power trio format is one of Captain Hum’s defining features. The band recorded its debut album in the fall of 2025 at Wedgeviews Studios (NL) and is currently working on a new release planned for 2026.
Captain Hum promises a dive into rich melodies and urban-influenced grooves, drawing subtle inspiration from blues and soul. Within an open improvisational canvas, the trio explores new sonic territories and invites the listener to reflect on both American and European music through the lens of Amsterdam’s vibrant scene.
