Eu e o Mar by Femke Smit

On this evening at Munganga Femke will sing about the sea. This vast and mysterious force of nature that never ceases to amaze us.
Many composers and poets have spoken about the sea and it's majestic power.
Femke has selected her favorite songs about the ocean from composers like Dorival Caymmi, Baden Powell and Candeia. Femke Smit (1986) is from the Netherlands but sings Brazilian music as if she was born there. Maybe it was another life, maybe it's pure coincidence, but when she sings Brazilian music she feels at home. With her several projects (o.a. Cantorias, Roda da Holanda and a duo with pianist Mike del Ferro) she brings an important contribution to the Brazilian scene in the Netherlands. With her group Cantorias (with also Anna Serierse, Lilian Vieira and Nina Rompa on the vocals) she won an Edison in 2024 in the category Nationaal vocaal and was nominated for the Publieksprijs. Her abundant appearance and inviting and moving way of singing Samba, Bossa Nova and MPB make Femke a singer who really takes you with her on a musical journey.
