ERIK SATIE: THE WHITE ROAD
Following the successful release of La Route Blanche in April, pianist Claire Chevallier and soprano Claron McFadden bring their celebration of the endlessly surprising Erik Satie to the stage.
Together, Claire and Claron invite you into the world of one of the most original and influential musical voices of the early twentieth century. This joyful and unexpected programme embraces the humour, wit, and mischievous surprises that Satie delighted in weaving into his music. His works unfold as a laboratory of imagination and invention, where new forms, meditation, and reflection meet.
Two songs by Francis Poulenc offer a wink to the profound friendship he shared with Satie — and to the artistic friendship that unites Claire and Claron.
From the intimate charm of Satie’s songs to the eccentric brilliance of his piano works, this concert reveals a composer whose music remains as fresh, provocative, and captivating today as ever.
