Elisabeth Harnik comes to Town!
A burst of invention, energy, and fearless musical play

The concert opens with pianist Elisabeth Harnik performing alongside Netherlands-based musicians Richard Barrett (electronics) and Milana Zarić (harp). This trio has developed a distinctive international presence over the past several years and released the album Glint (Scatter Archive) in 2024.

The second set features an all-female ensemble: Mary Oliver (violin/viola), Milana Zarić (harp), Anne La Berge (flutes), and Elisabeth Harnik (piano). Bringing together some of today’s most experienced improvisers, the evening highlights long-standing artistic relationships and the rich musical inventiveness that emerges from them.

Pianist and composer Elisabeth Harnik is one of the leading voices in contemporary Austrian music. Her multifaceted practice spans improvised music, interdisciplinary projects, radio works, and contemporary composition. As an improviser, she works within an electroacoustically inspired sound world, using preparations and extended techniques to push the boundaries of the piano. Her performances are marked by physicality and introspection, intuitive playing, and a high level of precision. Harnik’s distinctive artistic voice has led to numerous international invitations.
