Apron-don Steven Julien comes over to trigger your inner jackin’ house-child. In an old interview with Patta, the London DJ once said something about his label’s aesthetic that stuck with us: “We avoid formulas. We grab tasteful aesthetics from everywhere and everything!” Sounds about right, and also feels like the perfect metaphor for the way he plays, in which you'll probably notice many references that point back to the roots of hip-hop, house and techno all together. Lightness goes hand in hand with intensity, the old does with the new, it all doesn’t really matter. All we can say is that once you pick up on it, you’ll stay locked, that’s a promise from our side. Hand-in-hand also goes the combo with Lil Lawaw on the other end of the wheel. A jack-of-all-trades well-schooled in where it all comes from, but serves his records with fun, a smile and a bit of cheek.
