DE ULTIEME SELFIE – ON IDENTITY, CONNECTION, AND COMMUNITY (NDSM XPO XVIII)

DE ULTIEME SELFIE – ON IDENTITY, CONNECTION, AND COMMUNITY (NDSM XPO XVIII)

Following the compelling trilogy Selfie van de Ziel, De Ultieme Selfie brings the series to its conclusion. This participatory group exhibition reunites fourteen artists who previously created individual presentations as part of Selfie of the Soul. This time, each artist presents their ultieme Selfie.

At a time when identity is increasingly shaped by judgment, expectations, and social pressure, De Ultieme Selfie explores the importance of remaining true to oneself while being part of a larger community. The exhibition brings together diverse perspectives on identity, vulnerability, resilience, and belonging.

Through drawings, paintings, installations, film, photography, sculptures, and performances, the artists reveal themselves in ways that are sometimes surprising and even revealing to themselves. Their works emerge from personal fascinations, explorations of color, form, and balance, inner experiences, social issues, and significant life transitions. Together, these fourteen selfies of the soul form a collective portrait that reflects who we are and how we relate to one another.

Visitors are invited to become active participants in the exhibition. A series of interactive works poses questions such as: What makes us unique? How do we relate to others? What do we share? In this way, De Ultieme Selfie becomes a space where personal stories converge, dialogue unfolds, and new connections can emerge.
