Op zondag 19 oktober 2025 vertoont het Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam de film De eeuw van Simeon ten Holt.De eeuw van Simeon is een documentaire over componist Simeon ten Holt, bekend van het iconische Canto Ostinato. Naast dit meesterwerk belicht de film ook zijn minder bekende composities, zoals de Soloduiveldansen en Incantatie IV. In de film luister je onder meer naar Hannes Minnaar, Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens en het Oer Ensemble. De documentaire toont niet alleen zijn muziek, maar ook de mens achter de composities. Via verhalen van zijn familie en geliefden ontdekken we zijn drijfveren, levensloop en inspiratiebronnen. Van zijn geboortedorp Bergen tot de bunker waar hij in moeilijke tijden verbleef, brengt de film een intiem portret van Ten Holt’s leven. Rijk archiefmateriaal en prachtige beelden van de natuur die hem inspireerde maken De eeuw van Simeon tot een ode aan een van Nederlands grootste componisten.
The Century of Simeon is a documentary about composer Simeon ten Holt, known for his iconic Canto Ostinato. In addition to this masterpiece, the film also highlights his lesser-known compositions, such as Soloduiveldansen and Incantatie IV. The film features performances by Hannes Minnaar, Piano Duo Scholtes & Janssens, and the Oer Ensemble, among others. The documentary not only showcases his music, but also the man behind the compositions. Through stories from his family and loved ones, we discover his motivations, life story, and sources of inspiration.
