“But it wouldn’t be cyclical ‘happiness’ if everything didn’t go to the beginning at the end. An extremely powerful piece [...] that gets to the heart of its message.”
— about 'Cyclic Bliss' by Michael Denzer, Salto BZ
Cyclic Bliss
Desire fuels the search for balance in Cyclic Bliss, a dance trio that embodies the intricate hormonal rhythms of menstruating bodies. In a world that suppresses or ignores these natural fluctuations, three performers navigate the tension between external pressures and the innate need to slow down, listen, and reconnect with their cyclical nature.
Despite its fundamental role in human life, menstruation remains taboo, burdened by shame and misunderstanding across cultures. As environmental toxins rise, stress levels soar, and the rhythms of modern life become increasingly unnatural, disruptions in hormonal health affect more and more people. Through undulating movements and moments of resistance, the dancers invite the audience to reflect on personal rhythms, societal constraints, and the wisdom of cyclicality.
