Kumbia Carajo + Winnie Conradi

Kumbia Carajo + Winnie Conradi

Doors: 19.30, start: 20.00. Entrance is donation based.

The world is a crowd of molecules, the world is a meadow of grazing cows, the world is a squat. Come join us in this festive event celebrating ontological questions and sociomaterial togetherness through music and encounter. There is Winnie’s experimental indie, where AMSR-like field recordings are tied together by angelic voices and no-wave guitar effects. Then there is kumbia carajo, merging dark queer folkiness with cumbia-joy. Fee is on donation, doors open at 19.30, music at 20.00

Winnie Winnie is a solo artist, a member of indierock quintet The Klittens and bandleader of djalan-djalan. Noise guitar, field recordings and an undeniable love for pop music are at the core of Winnie’s practice. A recent theme in her musical development is focussed on taking steps outside her comfort zone of the indie-rock world by embracing the unpredictable: improvised music. Together with a recent deepdive into her Indonesian-Dutch heritage she’s crafting a novel sound that is close to home and heart. Both warm and screeching, sometimes soft and sometimes loud, leaning into beats and exploring texture. Kumbia Carajo Kumbia Carajo is a queer, dark psychedelic folk/punk cumbia band based in the Netherlands. The project blends Latin American rhythms with hypnotic grooves and lyrics that whisper “revolution!” into the crowd. By dancing and stomping, we connect with the Earth’s inner rhythm and channel its power through cumbia.
