CineCarib 2 (2026)

In this programme, part of the Africadelic Festival 2026, we will screen three new short films by Dutch Caribbean and Surinamese (diasporic) filmmakers: Awo Now Nu (2026), Kaya ta nos Arena (2026) and Fort Buku (2025). Afterwards, the filmmakers will join a panel discussion on the current state and future of Dutch Caribbean and Surinamese (diaspora) cinema, and in particular the role of young people in remembering, reflecting on, and engaging with the colonial past and postcolonial present.

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
