About Ceuvel Kijkt: Entrepreneurs from Noord
Amsterdam Noord is bursting with remarkable entrepreneurs. Makers, thinkers and doers who, with courage and creativity, are shaping the city of the future. It is precisely here that social, sustainable and innovative initiatives emerge. During Ceuvel Kijkt: Entrepreneurs from Noord, you will meet these entrepreneurs and their stories. What drives them, what challenges do they face, and what can you learn from them?
Each evening is curated by a host: an entrepreneur from Noord with an inspiring story. The host selects a film or documentary that connects to their work or personal fascination and introduces the film themselves. Afterwards, you join the host and other visitors in conversation, followed by a surprising interactive element such as a tasting, demonstration or mini workshop.
So this is not a passive film night, but an evening full of personal stories and encounters. Expect inspiration, new perspectives and a chance to experience the entrepreneurial strength of Noord up close.
Meet the host of this evening: Ellen Brudet
Ellen Brudet is a passionate entrepreneur from Noord with a clear mission: to make the world of toys more inclusive and colourful. As the founder of Colourful Goodies, she is committed to creating toys in which all children can recognise themselves, regardless of skin colour, background or identity.
Colourful Goodies was born out of Ellenâs conviction that representation matters, especially in early childhood.
What drives Ellen is a combination of idealism and perseverance. She sees inequality not just as something to talk about, but as something you can actively change.
Like many impact entrepreneurs, her entrepreneurial journey includes moments of trial and error. Obstacles related to funding, market acceptance and visibility required resilience and courage. During Ceuvel Kijkt, Ellen Brudet shows that entrepreneurship can be more than making a profit: it can be a means to create structural change and pass on a more inclusive world to future generations.

About the film: A Doll Like Me
The documentary âA Doll Like Meâ by Walther en Cinta Grotenhuis (2023) is set in Ellenâs shop. The film follows three families of colour who take a doll home with them. What does such a doll mean for your self image when you struggle with it because of your skin colour, or because you are learning to live with albinism? Is our predominantly white society really as tolerant as we think?
