Bolero’s Jazz & Bossa’s by Lydia Stavraki Trio

(English below) Een splinternieuw all-female Cuba-latin trio, rondom zangeres Lydia Stavraki, pianiste Ana Fiszman en bassiste Eva Serrano, neemt je mee in hun liefde voor Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek. De drie muzikanten, die elkaar op Codarts ontmoetten, interpreteren in dit nieuwe project bolero's uit Cuba en bossa's uit Brazilië. Met behoud van de traditionele elementen versmelten zij latin en jazz invloeden in hun crossover-arrangementen. De Griekse Lydia Stavraki behaalde dit jaar haar bachelor zang aan Codarts maar is al 10 jaar werkzaam in de Griekse en Nederlandse muziekscene als vocaliste, van Griekse rebetiko tot Braziliaanse jazzmuziek. Ook bassiste Eva Serrano, geboren in Vlancia – Spanje, zie je naast haar studie aan Codarts in talloze Latin formaties op de podia opduiken. De Argentijnse pianiste Ana Fiszman koos er na het behalen van een diploma pianospel aan de Escuela de Música Contemporánea (onderdeel van het Berklee International Network) voor om studie-ervaring in het buitenland op te doen. Lydia Stavraki werd in 1994 geboren in Athene. Op achtjarige leeftijd begon ze met zingen en piano spelen.
Op negentienjarige leeftijd verhuisde ze naar Nederland om psychologie te studeren aan de Universiteit Leiden, maar al snel vond ze haar weg naar de Nederlandse muziekscene en begon ze te spelen in verschillende ensembles, variërend van jazz tot Griekse muziek.
Ze behaalde haar bachelor in psychologie en haar bachelor in Latin Jazz muziek aan Codarts Rotterdam bij docenten Jarmo Hoogendijk en Lilian Vieira.
Ze is lid van het Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest (NJJO) van Nederland, waarmee ze in juli '23 onder leiding van Maite Hontelé een nationale en internationale tournee begon.
Ze richtte haar eigen trio op, waarmee ze haar eigen composities uitvoert die Latijns-Amerikaanse en Griekse muziek via jazz met elkaar verbinden.

A brand new all-female Cuba-Latin trio, featuring singer Lydia Stavraki, pianist Ana Fiszman and bassist Eva Serrano, takes you on a journey through their love of Latin American music. The three musicians, who met at Codarts, interpret boleros from Cuba and bossa novas from Brazil in this new project. While retaining traditional elements, they blend Latin and jazz influences in their crossover arrangements.

Greek singer Lydia Stavraki obtained her bachelor's degree in singing at Codarts this year, but has been active in the Greek and Dutch music scene for 10 years as a vocalist, performing everything from Greek rebetiko to Brazilian jazz music. Bassist Eva Serrano, born in Valencia, Spain, can also be seen performing in countless Latin formations on stage alongside her studies at Codarts. After obtaining a degree in piano performance from the Escuela de Música Contemporánea (part of the Berklee International Network), Argentine pianist Ana Fiszman decided to gain study experience abroad. She chose Codarts, where she is now completing her final year. Line-up:

Bio
Lydia Stavraki was born in Athens in 1994. She started singing and playing the piano at the age of eight. At nineteen she moved to the Netherlands to study psychology at Leiden University, but quickly found her way into the Dutch music scene and began playing in various ensembles from jazz to Greek music. She received her BSc in psychology and BA in Latin Jazz music from Codarts Rotterdam with teachers Jarmo Hoogendijk and Lilian Vieira. She is a member of the National Jeugd Jazz Orkest (NJJO) of the Netherlands with which she started a national and international tour in July '23 under the guidance of Maite Hontelé. She created her own trio, with which she performs her own compositions that connect Latin and Greek music through jazz. She sings in Spanish, Portuguese, English and Greek.
