Together with Cities in Dust and Milk Made , we will watch Blank City. In the late 1970s, a group of ambitious New York filmmakers, inspired by the emerging underground music scene, began making films. Thus was born the influential No Wave movement. This film delves into the events leading up to No Wave, using the decaying city as inspiration. With interviews with Jim Jarmusch, John Waters, Thurston Moore, Debbie Harry and Lydia Lunch, among others.

This programme is part of Cities in Dust, an event that celebrates the legacy of post-punk music and art.

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.

Milk Made is (co-)made possible by the Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie and AFK Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst. The Fund for Cultural Participation supports initiatives that encourage participation in culture.
