According to the Buddhist approach, a lot of our suffering comes from being attached to ideas, plans and approaches. We limit and hurt ourselves by being too attached to what we think we should be. And by attaching ourselves to others we mix loving – “I want you to be happy” – with being dependent – “My happiness is dependent on you so make me happy now!”.
