An evening of voice solo
Three solo voice sets by singers Vera Morais, Jodi Gilbert, and Almut Kühne, plus some clarinet intermezzi by Michael Moore
It is not uncommon for an improvising musician to venture into a solo practice, but solo concerts by singers are still quite rare. On this evening, however, we’ll be able to witness three improvised solo sets by singers Vera Morais, Jodi Gilbert, and Almut Kühne.
While Gilbert is a veteran of the improvised music scene of Amsterdam, Morais has only recently become part of it after moving to the city to study in the Conservatorium, whereas Kühne is an established Berlin-based singer with credits both in improvised and contemporary music.
A constellation of singers from different origins, generations, and aesthetics, but united by an unapologetic and adventurous approach to singing. They’ll be joined by reed player Michael Moore, who will play short intermezzi in between their sets.
