The only thing certain in life is that we are going to die. During this evening, we will explore what nature can teach us about this through kind, down-to-earth conversations with experts and with each other. Why do we associate death with something scary and dirty, and why do we remove it from public life and from our view? What can the compost heap, burying pets in the garden, and Veraarden tell us about our lives?
On the programme:
- Ceuvelaar Marijn Bax
photographer/artist, recently also trained as a sustainable funeral guide, will introduce her research into what nature teaches us about death. And life. Together with you, she will search for a kind visual language that helps us understand what actually happens underground, and what might perhaps be done differently in the future.
- Farewell expert Susanne Duijvestein
will talk about Veraarden and its developments.
- A compost expert will talk in vivid detail about the compost heap.
- We will have kind, down-to-earth conversations with experts and with each other.
- We will quietly watch the short documentary Soil: The World at Our Feet
- Marijn will close the evening with a question about the ‘garden for the future’.
