DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Allard Pierson on 5 May to celebrate freedom. Pi
	ck up a tin of\nFreedom Soup to take away\, or stay and share a bowl durin
	g our special table\nprogramme\, hosted in partnership with VOX-POP and SP
	UI25. The programme explores\nfreedom and resistance as a lived\, passed-o
	n practice from Surinamese and\nCaribbean perspectives. It features poetry
	\, a lunchtime talk on the Surinamica\ncollection\, and a collective embro
	idery workshop inspired by Maroon resistance.\n\nThis programme stems from
	 the exhibition Not My Soul\, which centres the stories\nof enslaved peopl
	e. Individuals whose freedom was stripped away\, yet who\,\nagainst all od
	ds\, preserved their humanity through work\, creativity\, care\,\nlanguage
	\, love\, and resistance. This Liberation Day\, we invite you to engage\nw

	Robinson: Participants are invited to create\n   a collective patchwork in
	spired by the resistance of the Surinamese Maroons\n   and their own lived
	 experiences of freedom.\n\n\nENTRANCE\n\nAdmission to the programme is in
	cluded with your museum entry ticket.\n\n\nUVA PODIA\n\nThis programme is 
	organised by UvA-podia and is a collaboration between VOX-POP\,\nSPUI25\, 
	and Allard Pierson. In the University Quarter\, the UvA-podia Allard\nPier
	son\, SPUI25\, University Library\, and VOX-POP coordinate activities and\
	nevents throughout the year that are accessible to a broad audience.
