DESCRIPTION:As part of the Secret Arts Teachers exhibition\, Framer Framed
presents the\nworkshop Master Forgers by Tessa Smal\, where participants w
ill try their hand at\nforgery. The workshop will be held Sunday 20 Septem
ber at 15:00.\n\nHow far can you take a preexisting artwork before it beco
mes your own? That is\nwhat participants can discover through Master Forge
rs.\n\nStepping into the role of master forger\, participants choose an ar
t work that in\nsome way gets their attention and “steal” it\, recreating
it in their own style.\n\nThe workshop is open to everyone\, regardless of
prior artistic experience.\n\nFrom 11 to 27 September 2026\, Framer Frame
d presents Secret Arts Teachers\, a\ngroup presentation in which the class
room enters the exhibition space. The\nexhibition is the result of an inte
rnational project by the Art Education\nresearch group at the Amsterdam Un
iversity of the Arts\, in which art teachers\nuse their teaching practice
as an artistic workspace.\n\nIn Secret Arts Teachers\, art teachers work o
n the basis of a single shared\nquestion: what does art look like when you
create it at the heart of the\nclassroom\, together with students? The pr
oject is based on the concept of the\nTeacher as Conceptual Artist\n[https
	://framerframed.nl/projecten/ahk-symposium-en-expositie-teacher-as-concept
ual-artist/]\,\nin which the distinction between teaching and making art i
s blurred. Teachers\nshare their own artistic practice with the students a
nd treat the classroom as a\ntemporary art collective. The students are co
-creators and the learning process\nitself is part of the work. On display
in the exhibition are the surprising\noutcomes of these experiments\, ran
ging from playful assignments to activist\ninterventions and forms of (del
iberate) failure.\n\nSecret Arts Teachers was initiated by the Art Educati
on research group organised\nby the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK)
and brought together twenty art\nteachers from primary and secondary scho
ols across the Netherlands. During\nvarious meetings in Amsterdam\, they e
xchanged experiences\, developed new\nteaching methods and took part in in
spirational sessions led by artists and\ntheatre makers. This gave rise to
new educational assignments that allow room\nfor uncertainty\, play and f
ailure\, ranging from activist actions to the forgery\nof a masterpiece.\n
\nGuided by guest curator Kevin van Braak the exhibition explores the ques
tion of\nhow art and education relate to one another when they are not app
roached as\nseparate spheres\, but as something that\, in practice\, const
antly intersects and\nevolves.\n\nInfo & Credits\n\nThis event is in Engli
sh. Admission is free\, pay what you can. Do you also think\nart should be
free and accessible? Please consider supporting us with a donation\nwhen
registering or by becoming a Framer Framed Friend\n[https://framerframed.n
l/over-ons/friends/]! This event may be photographed and\nfilmed. Kindly l
et us know in advance if you prefer not to have your picture\ntaken. For s
eated programmes\, places are always made available for wheelchair\nusers.
Please speak to the host before the programme begins.\n\nSecret Arts Teac
hers has been curated by the Art Education Research Group at the\nAmsterda
