	and social change through approaches ranging from\nobservational documenta
	ry to collaborative and experimental filmmaking.\n\nAt the heart of Visual
	 Encounters is the idea that filmmaking can be more than a\nway of documen
	ting people and places. It can become an encounter: between\nfilmmaker and
	 participant\, image and experience\, audience and world.\n\nScreenings wi
	ll take place in thematic blocks\, followed by Q&As with the\nfilmmakers—o
	pening conversations about not only what these films show\, but also\nhow 
	they were made and what kinds of relationships made them possible.
