DESCRIPTION:Javier Corcuera | 2025 | Peru | 90’ | EN subtitles \n\nUyariy (
Quechua for “to listen”) is a Peruvian-Spanish documentary about the\nJuli
aca Massacre of 9 January 2023\, which took place during the unrest that\n
followed the coup against President Pedro Castillo and Dina Boluarte’s ris
e to\npower. The movie is a reflection on memory\, truth and justice throu
gh the\ntestimonies of victims’ relatives.\n\nIn a Peru where the far righ
t is gaining ground\, voices that challenge the\ndominant narrative often
struggle to find institutional support. Uyariy was made\nindependently\, t
hrough community solidarity and self-managed funding\, to keep\nthis memor
y alive. It honours the 50 people killed by state violence\, among them\nw
omen\, children and adolescents\, and places the massacre within a longer
history\nof mass violence in Peru.\n\nAfter the screening\, director Javie
r Corcuera will join an online discussion\nwith a family member of one of
the victims featured in the film. All proceeds\nfrom the evening will go t
	o the victims’ families.\n\n
