DESCRIPTION:Line up: Participating artists: Lucy Cohen Gus Colwell Hugo Hal
	l Grace Li Vivian\nNguyen\nOpen: 17:00 - 20:00 hrs\nTickets: € Free\n\nThe
exhibition Urban Sprawl showcases the final projects from students enroll
ed\nin the course Experimental Media and the Internet in Contemporary Art.
	 Each\npiece from the 5 artists represents a culmination of a semester's w
orth of\nresearch\, creation\, and self-reflection. The exhibition serves
as an open\nplatform\, inviting the public to interact with their work.\n\
nLucy Cohen\n\nThis work explores how humans create comfort in spaces outs
ide of their homes.\nSomething as simple as a shared kitchen can become th
e space where relationships\nare formed and grow. During my time in Amster
dam\, a place of impact has not only\nbeen the beautiful city in which we
live\, but also the kitchen where I cook my\nmeals with my friends\, which
has\, over time\, become a significant part of my\nabroad experience. My
art will depict our dinner table\, the same cups and\ncutlery\, and the pl
ate will show a collage of photos that I have taken over the\npast four mo
nths.\n\nBio:\n\nLucy Cohen (b. 2005\, USA) is a student studying Governme
nt at Colby College.\nThis is her first time creating an artwork that goes
beyond simple sketches and\nphotos. She is inspired by her grandmother\,
a photographer who has captured\nrelationships through her images. Her wor
k aims to communicate how community is\nfostered through shared spaces and
	 experiences.\n\nGus Colwell\n\nThis project explores the transformation o
f digital sketches into physical\nsculptures. Using original creature-like
drawings\, I create small air-dry clay\nsculptures that highlight how for
m\, texture\, and scale change between digital\nand physical mediums. Each
sculpture is paired with its original sketch to show\nthe progression fro
	m concept to object.\n\nBio:\n\nGus Colwell (b\, 2004\, USA) is a multidis
ciplinary artist and psychology student\nwhose work explores creativity\,
transformation\, and visual storytelling. Working\nacross digital and scul
ptural media\, his art focuses on the relationship between\nimagination an
d physical form\, often using playful and experimental designs to\nexamine
how ideas evolve through different materials and processes.\n\nHugo Hall\
n\nStatement: My work explores memory and physical space. I am interested
in how\nthe changes of spatial elements that are central to someone’s memo
	ry of a space\ncan tell a story. Using objects from second-hand stores\, I
arrange them in such\na way that the varying shapes\, sizes\, and materia
ls help exaggerate and reflect\ntheir magnitude of significance\, while co
	nveying a sense of directionality.\nAdditional materials\, colors\, and de
tails were added to balance the exaggerated\nnature with specificity.\n\nB
	io:\n\nHugo Hall (b. 2005\, USA)\, is a student of biology and environment
al science.\nThis is his first sculptural work as his focus is on nature a
nd landscapes. His\nfather\, an Architect specializing in scenic design\,
inspired him to create a\npiece that encourages thought about the stories
	told by changes in spatial\nmemory elements.\n\nGrace Li - 25 euros (?)\n\
nStatement: My work aims to bring childhood nostalgia and joy to life by c
reating\nart that connects beloved childhood characters and stories from a
round the\nworld—stories I loved as a child and continue to cherish today.
Out of a desire\nto share this joy with others\, I work across a variety
of media\, including clay\,\nwood\, paint\, and cardboard\, to create play
ful scenes in which these characters\ncome together in harmony and wonder.
Through my art\, I hope viewers recognize\nthat\, even across cultures an
d continents\, children’s stories all share an\nimportant desire to inspir
	e hope\, teach kindness\, and foster unity.\n\nBio:\n\nGrace Li (b. 2005\,
USA) is a Chinese-American student of kinesiology and human\nanatomy and
physiology. Since childhood\, she has been drawn to cute characters\nand v
ibrant aesthetics\, filling her life with whimsical decorations and adorni
ng\nher belongings with them. She wants to remind her audiences of the chi
ldlike\nwonder they often forget as the years go by and life’s growing res
	ponsibilities\nbegin to weigh them down.\n\nVivian Nguyen\n\nStatement: My
work represents a traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year household\ncelebr
ation\, with a depiction of several traditional Viet materials (altar\,\ni
ncense holder and flower pots with traditional patterns\, cards-playing\nm
attress\, traditional wooden furniture\, Lunar New Year decorations\, and
several\nVietnamese Lunar New Year food). Illustrated through a miniature
model\, I used\nmixed materials in the process of creating this art\, incl
	uding clay\, cardboard\,\npaper\, printed media\, wooden sticks\, cloths\,
and spray paints. Lunar New Year is\namong one of the most important trad
itions for every Vietnamese\, which treasures\nfamily gatherings\, gratitu
de\, and reunion. Being nearly 4 years away from home\,\nI have not been a
ble to stay close to my family\, missing out all the memories\,\nevents an
d especially the sense of home\, which is the main reason why I chose to\n
work on this art. This art not only represents my origin\, but also aims t
o\nintroduce and promote a historical and cultural heritage that every Vie
	tnamese\nis proud of.\n\nBio:\n\nVan (Vivian) Nguyen (b. 2005\, Vietnam) i
	s a Vietnamese student studying\nCommunications\, Business Analytics and M
edia Arts in the United States. Being\nthe first generation who has a chan
ce to go out and explore the world\, she has\nalways been told to value ev
ery experience\, moment and to take any possible\nopportunity. She is also
the first member of the family who follows a different\npath in Media Art
s and Visual Design\, which challenges her ambitions\, creativity\nand wil
lingness to take risks. Her focus on Arts mainly about graphic design\,\np
hotography\, and videography\, with a huge ambition to recapture the real
	world\ninto her own perception.
