SUMMARY:Uitkijk x De Internet Gids | Rooksporen (1992)
DTSTAMP:20260525T194107Z
DTSTART:20260530T190000Z
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with De Uitkijk\, the digital literary magazin
e DIG is\norganising a special screening of *Rooksporen* to mark the digit
al reissue of\n*De vrouw die een rookspoor achterliet* by Lidy van Marissi
ng. This experimental\nwork formed the basis for the film and was difficul
t to access for a long time.\nWith this revised edition\, DIG aims to fill
that gap.\n\nThe film will be introduced by Fiep van Bodegom\, who also w
rote a new afterword\nfor the reissue. Following the screening\, a pirated
copy of Van Marissing’s\ndebut novel Ontbinding will also be available.\n
\nThe central character in *Rooksporen* (1992) is a woman facing an interr
ogator.\nInterspersed with these interrogation scenes are sequences in whi
ch 26 witnesses\n(from A to Z) are introduced: first in their homes and th
en in a room adjoining\nthe interrogation room. The interrogator has an am
biguous identity and role: at\ntimes he addresses the woman directly with
questions\, at others he turns\nexclusively to the witnesses\, listening a
	nd watching\, acting as a sounding\nboard. The witnesses\, too\, have an e
lusive identity. Who or what they are\nremains unclear\; they exist thanks
to the sensuality and/or enigmatic nature of\ntheir language. Nor is it e
ntirely clear what the woman is accused of. Most\nwitnesses do conclude th
at she is guilty\, but of what exactly remains the\nquestion. The only thi
ng that is beyond doubt is that she is an outsider. Just\nwhen she seems t
o be pin-pointable\, she eludes the dance in which every observer\ntries t
o draw her into their own perspective.\n\nDIG (The Internet Guide) is a mu
ltimedia digital literary magazine that focuses\non experimental publicati
ons. As a fully online platform\, we seek out\ngroundbreaking forms of lan
guage\, image and sound. These include multilingual\npoetry with live tran
slation and animations\, poetry videos\, poetry soundscapes\,\nvisual essa
ys\, and collaborations between writers and visual artists. What forms\nca
n literature take on the internet? Where are the boundaries of a digital\n
publication? What can actually be called literature?\n\nFiep van Bodegom i
s a writer\, critic and translator. She has published reviews\,\nessays\,
interviews\, translations and prose. She is an editor at Extra Extra\nMaga
zine and teaches in the Creative Writing department at Artez University of
	\nArts.\n\n * Language: Dutch\n * Duration: 105 mins.\n * Director: Frans
	van de Staak\n * Cast: Marlies Heuer\, Peter Blok\, Joop Admiraal\n * Year
	: 1992\n * Country: The Netherlands
