DESCRIPTION:Join us on the evening of the 10th July at Boekhandel Perdu for
	 an intimate\nreading with Kate Briggs. In the bookshop we will gather to 
	celebrate the\npublication of Hélène Besette’s Twenty Minutes of Silence\,
	 a second translation\nfrom the French to appear in Fitzcarraldo blue. To 
	mark the occasion\, Kate will\nread from her translation before engaging i
	n conversation with Mia You. The\ndoors will open at 18.00 for a 18.30 sta

	Kate Briggs is a writer\, editor & translator based in Rotterdam\, where s
	he\nfounded and co-runs Short Pieces That Move\, a micro-press & pedagogic
	al project.\nIn 2025\, she published the first English-language translatio
	n of Hélène\nBessette’s debut novel\, Lili is Crying (Fitzcarraldo Edition
	s & New Directions)\,\na finalist for the 2026 French-American translation
	 prize. Editorial projects\ninclude A Social Practice of Unknowing Yoursel
	f in Real Time: Work on\nConversation (co-edited with Laura Haynes followi
	ng a residency at Glasgow\nSchool of Art (2025)) & Verbs for Practicing To
	getherness\, with graduates from\nthe Masters in Artistic Research in & th
	rough Cinema at The Netherlands Film\nAcademy (2026). She is most recently
	 the author of I am not ready\, a pamphlet of\npoems (SPTM\, 2026). She te
	aches at the Piet Zwart Institute.\n\nMia You is the author of the poetry 
	collections Festival (Belladonna\, 2025) and\nI\, Too\, Dislike It (1913 P
	ress\, 2016)\, and the chapbooks Rouse the Ruse and the\nRush (Nion Editio
	ns\, 2023) and Objective Practice (Achiote Press\, 2007). Her\npoems have 
	appeared in Poetry magazine\, the Boston Review\, nY\, De Gids\, Nioques\n
	and the PEN Poetry Series. She teaches Anglophone literature at the Univer
	siteit\nUtrecht and in the Critical Studies program at the Sandberg Instit
