SUMMARY:This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
DTSTAMP:20261014T232245Z
DTSTART:20261127T180000Z
DESCRIPTION:Filmhuis Den Haag\, Melkweg and Paard present ‘Getting the Band
Back Together’ in\nNovember\, a joint music film programme celebrating ba
	nds in all shapes\, sizes\nand genres.\n\n*This Is Spinal Tap* (1984) is a
ctually a mockumentary – a parody of the ‘real’\ndocumentary – and one of
the pioneers of the genre. The filmmaker and actor Rob\nReiner\, who sadly
passed away last year\, serves up all the rock clichés\, taken\nto the ex
treme\, thereby satirising the musical pretensions of hard rock and\nheavy
metal as well as the rock documentaries of the 1980s. In the film\, the\n
(fictional) British metal band Spinal Tap is followed by the dead-serious\
ndirector Marty Di Bergi\, played by Reiner himself\, who tries to portray
the band\nwith delightful naivety. The not-particularly-bright rockers gi
ve us a glimpse\ninto the world of groupies\, Marshall stacks\, shiny span
	dex\, backcombed men’s\nhair and sold-out stadium shows.\n\nEspecially for
the "41st anniversary"\, the film has been remastered and remixed\,\nas a
teaser for the long-awaited sequel ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’\,\n
which was released last year.\n\nMelkweg often hosts different types of pr
ogrammes at the same time\, such as\nconcerts\, club nights and films. Ple
ase note that there may occasionally be some\nnoise pollution from other p
	rogrammes during the screening.
