The title Kormos (Κορμός\, meaning tree trunk in Greek) reflects both the\nconceptual core of the project and the organic nature of the wooden string\ninstruments at its heart.\n\nThe ens emble brings together musicians from diverse musical and cultural\nbackgro unds\, forming a rich and distinctive musical mosaic. Kofodimos and\nMelis sa are active figures in the contemporary Greek music scene\; they release d\ntheir first duo album Myrra in 2023 and have performed extensively in G reece and\nabroad. For Kormos\, they are joined by Laia Escartin\, a Catal an violist\, singer\,\nand composer\, and Mahyar Tahmasbi\, a renowned Ira nian cellist and sitar player\nspecializing in Persian classical music.\n\ nThe musical language of Kormos blends elements of Greek traditional music \, the\nwider Eastern Mediterranean\, Persian musical traditions\, gypsy j azz\, and the\nformal structures of a classical string quartet. Kormos is the new album by Tasos Kofodimos (Greece) an d Yvonne Melissa (Greece) created in collaboration with Mahyar Tahmasbi (I ran) and Laia Escartin (Catalunya).
