DTSTART:20260601T171500Z
DESCRIPTION:Archives are never neutral. They are acts of selection\, shaped
by power\, loss\,\nand forgetting. For the 2026 Eco Expo of Sprouts Film
Festival\, three artists\nglean from what remains: a parasitic flower evol
ving through plastic pollution\,\na fictional Caribbean island scarred by
	colonization and memory loss\, and a\ndisabled bull\, sole survivor of a c
olonial herd exterminated on a remote Indian\nOcean island. Together\, the
ir works ask what grows when we return to what was\nleft behind\, and how
inherited images\, objects\, and histories can be composted\ninto new ecol
	ogies of meaning.\n\nSchedule:\n\n1 – 7 June\nmo. 17:00 – 22:00\ntue. – fr
	i. 14:00 – 22:00\nsat. – sun. 11:00 – 22:00\n\n\nLOU ELIE DIT COSAQUE\n\nL
ou Elie dit Cosaque (b. 2002\, Paris) is a French-Caribbean textile artist
\nliving and working in Amsterdam. Her artistic practice explores textiles
and\nlanguage to weave stories and mythologies that connect forgotten Car
ibbean\nmemories\, symbols and imagination. She seeks to give form to worl
ds that\nreimagine lost pasts and envision alternative futures. At the cor
e of her\npractice is an exploration of identity\, as a patchwork of cultu
	res\, a layered\nhistory shaped by colonization\, resilience and exchange.
\n\nOstreoidea is a fictional living land that serves as a mirror to gaze
into\nCaribbean histories. Grown from soft soil and humid air\, she is sha
ped by\ncolonization\, memory loss\, and survival. But Ostreoidea is not j
	ust a memory\, it\nis also a rebellion. The island\, once colonized by a h
igh-tech utopian society\,\nsaw its soil poisoned and its rhythms disrupte
d by a civilization drunk on\nprogress yet blind to consequence.\n\nMusic
	composition: Louise Baux\n\n\nJORI(K) A. GALAMA\n\nJori(k) A. Galama works
across fine art\, literature\, and cinema. They graduated\nfrom the Artis
tic Research in and through Cinema Master’s programme at the\nNetherlands
Film Academy. Their fiction and essays on art and cinema have\nappeared in
	 Metropolis M\, De Revisor\, Tirade\, Kluger Hans\, Tubelight\, De\nIntern
et Gids\, and various other artists’ publications. They currently work\npr
imarily as a documentary director and creative producer\, with a focus on\
	ncritically engaged ecological perspectives.\n\nYntolerânsje (2025) is a s
peculative archive essay film tracing the entangled\nhistories of cows\, t
he Dutch colonial empire\, and Frisian identity. It departs\nfrom the stor
y of Île Amsterdam\, a remote Indian Ocean island where five cows\nleft by
19th-century European settlers multiplied into a herd of two thousand.\nD
eemed an ecological threat\, the herd was exterminated by the French gover
nment\nin 2010\, save for one disabled bull\, now living in a Frisian cow
	retirement\nhome.\n\n\nERIK PETERS\n\nThe World’s Green is Rotting Lime\n\
nErik Peters is an interdisciplinary artist and artistic researcher engagi
ng with\nthe worldbuilding potentialities seeded in the act of storytellin
g\, uncovering\nhow speculative fiction can germinate new universes of bei
ng through\ncollaborative formats of making\, researching and staging. Exp
loring queer\necology as a roadmap to alternative futures\, they weave pat
hways between the\npossible worlds persistently emerging from a world in p
lanetary crises.\n\nThe World’s Green is Rotting Lime is an ecopoetic audi
ovisual installation that\nspeculates on future ecologies emerging from pl
astic pollution. The work follows\nthe discovery of a new parasitic flower
morphospecies that has evolved to adapt\nto the infiltrating amounts of m
icroplastics found in the earth’s layers. The\nwork is produced in collabo
ration with Funda Baysal (3d-printed ceramics)\, Ymer\nMarinus (audiovisua
ls) and Jao San Pedro (translation and narration).
