The\nexhibition is t he result of an international project by the Art Education\nresearch group at the Amsterdam University of the Arts\, in which art teachers\nuse thei r teaching practice as an artistic workspace.\n\nIn Secret Arts Teachers\, art teachers work on the basis of a single shared\nquestion: what does ar t look like when you create it at the heart of the\nclassroom\, together w ith students? The project is based on the concept of the\nTeacher as Conce ptual Artist\n[https://framerframed.nl/projecten/ahk-symposium-en-expositi e-teacher-as-conceptual-artist/]\,\nin which the distinction between teach ing and making art is blurred. Teachers\nshare their own artistic practice with the students and treat the classroom as a\ntemporary art collective. On display in the exhibition are the surprising\noutcomes of the se experiments\, ranging from playful assignments to activist\ninterventio ns and forms of (deliberate) failure.\n\nSecret Arts Teachers was initiate d by the Art Education research group organised\nby the Amsterdam Universi ty of the Arts (AHK) and brought together twenty art\nteachers from primar y and secondary schools across the Netherlands. In a workshop inspired by artist Simone Post, who recrea ted her own childhood home with marshmallows, Koning will guide participan ts in learning through play, throwing aside expectations and technical con straints in favour of trial and error.

In revisiting childhood, Koni ng wishes for participants to revisit their ability to play, be it through recreating memories or places from childhood, or creating something entir ely new.

The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of prior artis tic experience. What is most important is to have fun and be playful!
